RateDesi has transformed from a "rating" site to a "community" site over the course of its existence. Most of its users are more interested in being a part of the vast RateDesi community rather than rating the profiles of others or having their own profile rated. Many a friend (and a few loves) have been found on RateDesi and we are quite proud to have brought so people together. RateDesi has been featured in newspapers as large as the San Jose Mercury News.

History
RateDesi was started in January 2003 by a then 19 year old sophmore Cornell University student in his dorm room. The original purpose of RateDesi was just to experiment with php and mysql, but its quick success turned the website into much much more. The site quickly moved from being hosted on a personal computer in a Cornell dorm room to an impressive network of several dedicated servers.

We have not looked back since then and are extremely proud of having the largest audience of any desi youth site. We hope to continue the "RD" tradition for many years to come.
