Indian Wedding fight over Meal leads to Divorce: In a very fragmentary marital occurrence, a couple from Gondal region in Gujarat divorced each other moments after getting wedded because their relatives got into a dispute over the wedding feast.
It was ascertained that the two had just taken their vows at the venue and gave words to be each other’s partner in all seven births.
Shortly after these vows, it was time for the bride, groom and their guests to relish the wedding feast. Nevertheless, all the delight abruptly changed.
According to news reports, the guy's family were wretched with the lunch that was being served at the function. This ignited an argument between the two families.
It intensified when the guy's family started a fight, and the wedding spot soon converted into entropy as both groups got into a fight.
Before the dispute became more violent, an unnamed wedding attendee called the police. Upon Police arrival, the fight was ended immediately, but the hatred between the two families was apparent.
It was a surreal and dramatic reaction to the wedding meal, but it ended up having detrimental consequences for both the bride and groom.
The conflict led to the couple’s separation. Both families quickly called their lawyers, and the divorce held inside the wedding hall.
After both families respective lawyers arrived, the divorce process hardly took minutes to be official.
Before they separated ways, the now ex-husband and wife returned the marriage gifts that had exchanged shortly before the conflict ignited.
This is not the first time where a wedding meal has played a role in the collapse of a marriage. In 2014, a girl called off her marriage after the groom’s family demanded mutton biryani instead of chicken.
It began when the bride-to-be’s parents prepared 30 kg of chicken biryani and delivered it to the groom’s family. They were disconcerted as they don't eat chicken. However, the issue was soon resolved.
But, the bringing up of this occurrence again on the wedding day, broke out an argument which later ended up in the bride's refusal of getting married in that family.
Police said: “Seeing how events were unfolding, the bride refused to get hitched. Seeing the groom’s family’s behavior before the wedding, she wondered how she would be treated after marriage."
There have been many strange grounds for divorce, and not all of them are food-related. This extends from disputes on what to watch on TV to even having to keep up with sexual desires.
Though, one thing is that this incident seems unique as the trivial matter caused a divorce moments after the marriage.
